A FUN TIME HAD BY ALL!

Our Pioneer Day Festival & Living-History Walking Tour was a great way to
spend a summer Sunday afternoon. Children and adults, alike, relaxed in
the park as they took part in a variety of activities and talked with artisans.
It was home-grown entertainment that couldn’t have happened without the
support of the Russell Family Foundation and all the help we had from our
volunteers! Watch this space for a repeat performance next year…

In 1864, while returning from a fishing trip to Gig Harbor in a canoe, Job Carr
first sighted the place that would become his home. "Eureka! Eureka!" he
shouted as he stood up in the canoe. Also, Job and his sons, Anthony and
Howard, used a canoe named Red, White & Blue to deliver mail to and from
Steilacoom. In honor of these important parts of Tacoma history, Job Carr Cabin
Museum is pleased to add this scale-size replica of a Salish canoe to our Plaza.
Thank you to BCRA Design, Jody MillerConstruction, Sequoia and Cheney
Foundations for their support of this project.
