2026 Summer StoryWalk
During the Museum's Summer Hours
Tacoma's Old Town Park
Story Walk is an interactive literacy program to engage people of all ages. Enjoy a leisurely walk while a reading a picture book together.
Our 2026 StoryWalk features Bing's Cherries written by Livia Blackburne and illustrated by Julia Kuo. This pop-up display is available during the Museum's summer hours (weather pending).

Job Carr Cabin Museum in Tacoma's Old Town Park
Note: This event is rescheduled for 8/13 due to air quality conditions.
On 8/13, local author and illustrator Wendy Wahman shares her dog-themed books, Don't Lick the Dog and Nanny Paws. This event includes a special art activity!
The Summer Storytime series brings local picture book authors to Old Town Park for a read-aloud and children's activity. These free community events are held on Thursdays at 10am. Books will be available for purchase from the author.

Job Carr Cabin Museum in Tacoma's Old Town Park
On 8/15, try out a variety of outdoor games and movement activities in partnership with 2nd Cycle and Buffalo Soldiers Museum. Try out a bicycle obstacle course, play tug of war, or challenge your friends to a stick horse race in Old Town Park at this free community event.

On 8/20, local author Brandi Harrington shares her latest book Trouble With Buttons. This event includes a craft activity!
Brandi Harrington is a children’s author and speaker who advocates for kids of all abilities. Through her books, she aims to inspire understanding and compassion among families, educators, and medical teams.
